Event Description

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation invites you to a virtual briefing on the state of social connection in the United States with Aaron Hurst, founder and CEO of the US Chamber of Connection. This program is designed for leaders in business, philanthropy, and communities who want research‑based insights and practical frameworks to help make connection a shared civic priority in cities and organizations across the country.

Drawing on The Six Points of Connection 2026: The State of Connection in America report, based on a national survey of 1,997 adults, the US Chamber of Connection finds that 52 percent of Americans fall into “at risk” or “vulnerable” categories for social connection. The report introduces the Social Connection Index—a new, action‑based way to understand how social connection shows up in daily life—and highlights how six everyday, place‑based behaviors, known as the Six Points of Connection, play a critical role in building and sustaining social connection.

During this session, we will share:

  • Key findings from the report, including how social connection affects trust, access to social support, health, and overall life satisfaction
  • Why many of the barriers to connection are structural rather than personal, shaped by access to people, places, and opportunities
  • How the Six Points of Connection and the Social Connection Index can help leaders measure, compare, and strengthen social connection over time
  • Lessons from the US Chamber of Connection’s pilot work in Seattle and how communities can build the social and civic infrastructure needed to support connection
