More than 1,900 people have died and at least 9,900 injured following a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on Saturday, August 14. The earthquake destroyed hundreds of buildings and hospitals are severely overwhelmed struggling to treat injured patients. Meanwhile, disasters continue across the U.S., for example, wildfires have burned more than 4 million acres this year. In California, the Dixie Fire has grown to more than 600,000 acres and is only 31% contained, becoming the second largest fire in state history. Additionally, tropical weather continues to pose a threat to coastal areas of the U.S.

In this coordination call on Wednesday, August 18, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET we heard from government and multilateral, as well as business and nonprofit partners responding to the earthquake (first half of the call) and domestic events in the U.S (second half of the call). For both, we discussed the current needs on the ground and how companies can support response and relief efforts.
