Kellie has served in various leadership capacities over the last 20 years in the crisis response space to include both the private and non profit sectors. As the first Head of Global Disaster Response and Relief for Airbnb from 2015- January 2020 Kellie worked across the enterprise to build a team and capabilities to respond to crises that impacted the Airbnb community of over 6 million hosts in 191 countries globally. In this role, Kellie led Airbnb’s responses while also serving as the media spokesperson for the company. From 2020-2022, Kellie continued serving with Airbnb on special projects to include building out the first Refugee Athlete Program as part of the Olympic and Paralympic partnership and becoming the first Director of Inclusion for Airbnb’s Host Community.
Prior to Airbnb, Kellie managed Target’s Global Crisis Management program where she led the development of Target’s crisis response plan and Target’s emergency management partnerships. From 2010-2013, Kellie served as the Senior Director of Disaster Services for Points of Light, the largest volunteer network in the world. In this role, Kellie led preparedness, response and recovery efforts to include responses to the Haiti earthquake in 2010, the 2011 Japan Tsunami and Earthquake, and Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Kellie started her career in the disaster response space as the founding Executive Director HandsOn New Orleans, in response to Hurricane Katrina, engaging hundreds of volunteers daily. Kellie held volunteer leadership positions to include; the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), Louisiana VOAD, and the City of New Orleans Mayoral Transition Team.
Kellie is a graduate of the College of Charleston and received the Alumna of the Year award in 2011. Kellie is an alumna of the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative at Harvard University and a proud AmeriCorps alumna.
