Mahina Martin serves as the Director of Public Affairs for the County of Maui. When the wildfires of August 8, 2023 brought destruction and tragedy to Maui, Mahina was at the forefront of the disaster as the County’s communications director. The communities of Kula and Lahaina were profoundly impacted, and the aftermath of the disaster that resulted in 101 lost lives saw several thousand residents displaced, and Maui’s economy severely affected. Mahina is a past vice-president of the Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce and a former board member of the Maui Chamber of Commerce. With over thirty years of public affairs work in the private and public sector, she is an award-winning community leader and currently serves on the board of International Association of Public Participation-USA, committed to applying best practices to effectively bridge the work and services of the public and private sectors with communities they serve.
