James W. Morentz, Ph.D., specializes in the development of advanced technologies to improve planning for and response to all types of natural, technological, and terrorist events. He developed the first commercial emergency management software in 1981 for which he later received the Computerworld Smithsonian Award for “visionary use of information technology.” Since then he has been CEO of technology companies, Vice President and Director of Science Application International Corporation’s Public Safety Integration Center, and on the Board of Directors of both telecommunications and environmental technology companies. Currently, Jim serves as Managing Partner of SpotOnResponse LLC which applies his decades of technology experience to today’s mobile environment. Jim also founded and is Executive Director of the non-profit SABER, the Single Automated Business Exchange for Reporting. Dedicated to “getting businesses back in business faster,” SABER won FEMA's Individual and Community Preparedness Award for Technology Innovation in 2017 and the 2018 International Association of Emergency Managers Partners in Preparedness Award.
