Elton is a Partner & Associate Director with BCG, having joined the firm in 2020. He serves as a subject matter expert for a wide range of strategic risk, foresight, and anticipatory resilience projects for commercial and government clients.
Elton served for 23 years in the military as a Naval Aviator, spending the last 9 years directing anticipatory long-term strategy development and risk and crisis management war games and simulations for senior US and NATO leaders. Key roles included Special Assistant and Strategic Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and then as Strategic Policy Advisor and Special Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe. He has extensive operational and major staff experience, with a focus on competitive strategy, scenario planning, risk management, and whole-of-government/whole-of-society strategic planning. He also has deep experience coordinating and facilitating joint training sessions with state and local law enforcement and host-nation security forces for incident response and consequence management. He has excelled in leading and managing the direction of global risk-informed strategy development in large and diverse enterprises, both foreign and domestic, in the public and private sectors.
Prior to joining BCG, Elton helped lead the public sector crisis management and risk intelligence practice at Deloitte, leveraging war games, simulations, and scenario planning to increase organizations’ anticipatory capabilities to help prepare for and harness uncertainty. He remains Adjunct Faculty at National Defense University, where he teaches courses in foresight, risk analysis, and scenario planning to senior US and foreign military and civilian leaders, as well as advising senior Department of Defense and Department of State officials on strategic risk, crisis management, and geopolitical planning considerations.
