Kathleen Lane serves as Managing Director of Climate Action & Design Excellence at The American Institute of Architects to advance AIA’s strategic priority for climate action through knowledge and practice resources and tools to transform the profession to achieve a zero-carbon, equitable, resilient, and healthy built environment.
Previously, Kathleen was Executive Director of AIA Baltimore, one of the largest local components of AIA, and Director of AIA Knowledge Communities overseeing education and knowledge delivery for ten specialized communities of practice. Kathleen is a licensed architect, and has worked in architectural practice, and as a director and educator for an award-winning international architecture student design-build program, Spirit of Place-Spirit of Design. She has over thirty years of experience in professional association and nonprofit management for architecture, design, and arts organizations, and higher education. She also enjoys serving as a volunteer on boards of directors of community-based arts and cultural organizations.
