Taylor Marr is a Senior Housing Economist at Airbnb where he leads Airbnb’s housing research program and works closely with the Airbnb Housing Council. His research topics include housing and rental prices, taxation, economic impact of short-term rentals, and the overall hospitality industry.
Prior to joining Airbnb Taylor was the Deputy Chief Economist at Redfin. He researched housing and urban policies as well as mobility and housing affordability. He laid the framework for Redfin’s migration data and reports and owned the economic forecasts for the housing market. Before Redfin, Taylor built financial market index funds for Vanguard at the University of Chicago’s Center for Research in Security Prices. He also worked as a business analyst and research assistant. He was also recently the President of the Seattle Economics Council. Marr’s research has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Economist.
Marr holds an MA in International and Development Economics from Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW) in Berlin, Germany. His research focus was on the behavioral causes of the global housing bubble and subsequent policy responses. He also holds a BS in Economics & Psychology from the University of South Dakota. Taylor lives just outside Washington, D.C., in Northern Virginia with his wife and three sons.
