Alberta Johnson is Founder and CEO of People Experts LLC. She has over 20 years of experience in executive management and has directed overall operations for various organizations in areas of human resources, diversity, equity and inclusion and employee engagement.

Alberta has dedicated her career to balancing inequities and civil rights. She’s held leadership roles in the public, private, non-profit and government sectors including the City of Chicago, YMCA Metro Chicago and the Chicago Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights.

Alberta has created human resources, diversity, equity and inclusion programming, impacted culture change, and developed inclusive recruitment, retention, and learning plans. As a thought leader, she has served as an advisor and consultant to executive leadership and management teams. She believes in collaboration, transparency, and communication. She was an instrumental member of the leadership team that drafted the first maternity leave policy and the first Diversity & EEO plan for the City of Chicago’s workforce and the first transgender policy and training program for the YMCA.

Alberta holds a B.A. in Sociology, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA). Alberta has served on a number of volunteer boards including IL SHRM as Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, Chicago SHRM and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA). Alberta currently serves as a Veteran Ambassador and Mentor for SHRM Executive Network and as President of the Friends of Pediatrics for the Children’s Hospital University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

Alberta was recognized in 2015 by Latino Leaders magazine as a Chicago Future Leader. In 2014, she was recognized by Diversity MBA magazine as one of the top 100 under 50 diversity leaders and in 2012 by the Metropolitan Leadership Institute as a new and upcoming leader.
