Speaker Bio
Judaline Cassidy, who hails from the beautiful twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago, is a hero in a hard hat, one of CNN's 2020 'Champions For Change’, and the founder and activist behind the trademarked phrase, ”Jobs Don’t Have Genders". Having experienced, first-hand, the challenges and injustices women working in male-dominated fields face, she has devoted the last 25 years of her life and work in the United States to fighting for equity for women in the construction trades. Judaline’s mission is to bring long overdue change to an industry in which the number of women in the workforce had remained at 3% since the 1970s, until a very recent, but incremental increase to 4%.

As a history-making plumber in NYC, Judaline has broken countless barriers. She was one of the first women accepted into Plumbers Local 371 Staten Island, NY; the first woman elected to the Examining Board of Plumbers Local Union No. 1 NYC; and ushered in the first Women's Committee within her Union, becoming its first President. As a tradeswoman activist, she founded Lean In: Women in Trades, helping give tradeswomen across the U.S. supportive spaces in which to cultivate community, share advice, and lean on each other as they lean in to their own careers.

As the founder of the pioneering nonprofit Tools & Tiaras, Inc. (est. 2017), Judaline is inspiring the next generation of tradeswomen through hands-on, mentoring workshops and summer camps for girls (ages 6-17), especially those in underserved communities. All Tools & Tiaras programming is driven by tradeswomen leaders and field experts, and designed to expose girls to the skilled construction trades like electrician, carpenter, plumber, auto mechanic, in addition to STEM and other fields in which women are underrepresented. Her organization’s signature curriculum also helps girls develop invaluable T.O.O.L.S (Total Ownership Of Life Skills) that will serve them no matter what career path they choose.

A feminist plumber, powerhouse role model, and captivating speaker, Judaline is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the Regina V. Polk Women Labor Leadership Alumna of the Year (2019), Outstanding Women - Women Builders Council (2018), and the 92nd Street Y’s Extraordinary Women Rising Star Award (2018). She has been featured by the Associated Press, CNN, BBC America, Good Day LA, No Barriers Podcast, and countless other media outlets.

Judaline’s ability to inspire crosses generations and genders, and the impact she makes extends to her industry and beyond.
