Frustrated by the narrow way in which women’s interests, politics, and civic engagement is often framed, Laura Cox Kaplan left a senior executive position at the height of her career to shape the debate and broaden the way we think about women and leadership. She created She Said/She Said, a media platform and podcast aimed at showcasing stories and lessons from a broad array of women across sectors whose advice is actionable, positive and empowering. From this post, Laura is creating content based on these lessons and sharing the perspective in lectures, workshops and speeches, as well as on She Said/She Said Podcast.

In addition, Laura is an adjunct professor in the School of Public Affairs at American University where she teaches “Women, Leadership, Politics and Power.” She has more than two decades of experience in communications, corporate governance,
takeholder engagement, and public policy strategy, as well as extensive experience in women’s leadership development. Laura
spent almost 12 years as the Partner-in-Charge of Government, Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy at ricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and a decade on the firm’s executive management team. She also served in senior positions at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and on Capitol Hill.

Currently, Laura serves as a corporate director at CoStar Group; and The Hunt Companies. She also serves on the boards of: Running Start; the Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University; and The Policy Circle. She is an advisor to several other non-profit organizations.

A native of Rising Star, Texas, Laura has a Master’s degree from American
University in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She lives with her husband and two children in Chevy Chase, MD.
