Director Fuel Efficiency
Jamie Helmer is currently the Director of Fuel Efficiency at Norfolk Southern (NS) where she works on initiatives across the company to reduce the energy needed to ship freight across the NS rail system. She has worked in several departments across the company in the 26 years since she started as a co-op. Jamie graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and a master’s in Information Technology. She now serves on the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Industry Advisory Board. She has Lean Certification from University of Kentucky and is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Within Norfolk Southern, Jamie is serving her second rotation on the women’s network (WiNS) Leadership Council and the Thoroughbred Volunteer Council. She volunteers with the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, part of the National Park Service. Her children are also focused on reducing environmental impact and walk many errands or use public transportation in the Atlanta area.
