Sadie Bynum is a results-oriented executive with a technical mastery of disaster housing, response and recovery. She joined Airbnb.org as their Global Emergency Response Manager in 2021. Bynum created the first ever Referral Program to allow Trusted Entities the opportunity to collaborate with Airbnb.org to provide displaced households with free, short term stays in an Airbnb.
She was appointed Director of the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management in 2018 by Mayor Jim Kenney, bringing a wealth of emergency management experience from the federal, state, and local level with her to oversee the City of Philadelphia.
As a Presidential appointee under the Obama and Trump Administrations, Sadie deployed to disasters to manage the federal response, recovery, and mitigation operations for multiple large scale incidents as a Federal Coordinating Officer.
Bynum was also Director of Emergency Preparedness for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the largest public housing authority in the United States, serving more than 600,000 New York residents.
Early in her career, Bynum worked at the New York City Office of Emergency Management, the Division of Public Safety and Emergency Management in Lee County, Florida, and was the Public Safety Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer of DeKalb County, Georgia.
Bynum holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a major in African American Studies from Syracuse University, and a Master of Public Administration degree with an emphasis in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University.
